Open Studio Event

An artist's workspace or studio is very important, and can either contribute or detract from the process of artmaking. I've worked very hard to create a space that is organized, efficient, comfortable, and spacious. To me it is a sacred space, a place for contemplation, creativity, and work. It is also a place to share my work with others.

On August 11 I asked my priest to bless my studio, and celebrate the completion of my studio and gallery with friends and community. It was a huge success, and I was truly blessed and overwhelmed by the support and love expressed.

If you were not able to come to see my studio and gallery, please call and make an appointment. I'd love to show you around.

Special thanks to Hillary Lenfesty for the beautiful photos!

A New Studio

Last month I moved to a new art studio to allow for more space, better temperature control, and a more suitable gallery space. I'm thrilled with how everything has settled in, and how the new studio provides a great place for artists to gather and create together.

Announcing a New Commission

I am excited to announce that I have been commissioned to create a ¾-life-size bronze sculpture of Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi for The Conventual Church of Our Lady of the Angels at the Franciscan Renewal Center in Scottsdale, Arizona.

This sculpture will depict the time when Saint Francis was seriously ill, and came to San Damiano for Saint Clare and the sisters to minister and care for him. The pose, expressions, and composition communicate ministering in the spirit of Christ, and the vulnerability of the poor, sick, broken, and marginalized. The sculpture will remind us of the humility of Jesus, who became poor and suffered because of his love for us; we will be encouraged to serve and minister to those in need, following the example of St. Clare, St. Francis, and ultimately, Jesus Christ.

The Conventual Church of Our Lady of the Angels (“conventual” means that it belongs to the Franciscan Order) is part of the Franciscan Renewal Center, commonly called “The Casa”, which is a place for spiritual growth and ministry, dedicated to transforming lives and moving people beyond themselves in the service of others. As a beautiful desert retreat, The Casa provides a whole host of spiritual resources aimed to advance the Franciscan ideals of service, simplicity, and worship.

New 18-inch Mary & Elizabeth

My 10-inch Mary and Elizabeth in ceramic clay is sold out, but a friend commissioned an 18-inch enlargement to be cast in stone. Here is the clay sculpture before a mold is made.  This will be an edition of 9.
